Armature winding are two type
  1. Lap Winding
  2. Wave Winding

Lap Winding: In this method winding are overlapped on each other as shown in fig. It is also known as parallel winding because the number of parallel path is kept equal to the number poles. This type winding is used where required more current and less voltage.

Wave Winding: In this method armature coils are divided in two parallel paths irrespective of the number of pole. This type of winding is used where required more voltage and less current.
